Google Chrome OS

At the Computex Taipei , Google has announced that the Google Chrome OS is set to make it’s debut in the autumn this year.

“We are working on bringing the device later this fall,” said Google vice president of product management Sundar Pichai at the Asia’s biggest IT trade show. He added, “It’s something which we are very excited by … We expect it to reach millions of users on day one”.

Well, it will be interesting to see whether or not Chrome OS can compete with the Microsoft’s Windows OS for market share. For me, it will be “mission impossible” for Chrome OS to take over Windows OS as the main operating system.

However, Chrome OS should grab much attention from heavyweight internet users (people like me ) as this open source OS is based on the Chrome browser, which is designed to work exclusively with web applications. According to Google, there are currently more than 70 million people surfing the net using the Chrome browser.

Also announced at the Computex Taipei 2010, was that the Chrome Web Store will open for visit to coincide with the launch of the Chrome OS. The Chrome Web Store is a web service where you can discover a broad range of amazing web apps, download them and use them on the Chrome operating system. Much like the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
