PAX Prime 2011: Stopping by Nintendo’s booth may make you want a 3DS

imageAt this point, it’d probably be easier to do one news story about all the companies that aren’t going to be attending the August 26-28, 2011 PAX Prime 2011 convention, but then that might not be as helpful for people who are actually going. As you can probably guess, Nintendo’s going to be there and, while Wii and DS games will be shown, the main focus of booth 462 and the Nintendo Gaming Lounge will be to get people excited about the 3DS. And, with the things Nintendo has planned, that could work.

The Gaming Lounge, for example, will be a two floor area with different floors focusing on different games. The second floor, for example, is Dragon Quest themed. You can take pictures in a photo booth and test out Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 (DS) and Fortune Street (Wii). The second floor is all about Kirby and Pokedex 3D, with free cotton candy, Kirby goodies, Kirby beanbag chairs, Pokedex 3D marker card giveaways and gigantic markers and playable versions of Kirby’s Return to Dream Land (Wii) and Kirby Mass Attack (DS). Not to mention there’s going to be an August 27 Star Fox 64 3D tournament starting at 7pm. You have to register the day before though, and that’s when you can do a little practicing to prepare yourself.

Finally, here are the 14 games that will be playable at Nintendo’s lounge and booth.

  • Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 (DS)
  • Fortune Street (Wii)
  • Kid Icarus Uprising (3DS)
  • Kirby Mass Attack (DS)
  • Kirby’s Return to Dream Land (Wii)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (3DS)
  • The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
  • Mario Kart 7 (3DS)
  • Pokedex 3D (3DS)
  • Rhythm Heaven (Wii)
  • Shinobi (3DS)
  • Sonic Generations (3DS)
  • Star Fox 64 3D (3DS)
  • Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
